Watch out for EG Scrabble PlayersPosted Friday, May 9, 2008, at 8:52 AM
Pictured here are Eastern Greene sixth graders (left) Nicole Hudson and Peyton Gilliatt. Both girls are members of the school's Scrabble Club. They have competed at the state Scrabble competition and are aiming for the nationals in the near future.
Besides competing, the seven students will experience a reality beyond Greene County. I was able to meet some of the students during the traditional larger-than-life Scrabble game held at the school on Wednesday. And I'm here to say wordsmiths have nothing on these kids...They are whip-smart, polite and confident. So watch out Nationals because Eastern Greene will surely leave a lasting impression on the annual event. Be sure to check out Tuesday's edition of the Greene County Daily World or on-line at www.gcdailyworld.com for an update on how the students fared. Kudos to you!
