Let go of that Death Grip....

The following is a rerun. To read Timberly's most recent viewpoint on the arts be sure to check out Tuesday's edition of the Greene County Daily World.

Change.

To accept or not to accept?

Often times we avoid changing our ways. Fearful of something different and new or possible failure, we often stick to the tried and true in order to avoid the discomfort that change brings.

But, being uncomfortable with change is one thing that can make life worth living.

Being uncomfortable may be just what we need to remind us that we are in fact alive.

Yes, change can bring fear of the unknown and as residents of a conservative area this fear often leads us to resist anything new.

But, if we open our lives up to both different experiences and people, change may have a positive influence on our communities.

Why should we spend countless days, months or even years in an ocean of the same people swimming in the same fears?

Life is a one-time opportunity. It is not a schedule. Nor is it a list of what-to-do.

Take the road less traveled. Be open-minded and get out the door.

In the realm of things, we are only here for a short period of time so why not live life to the fullest each and every day.

Take a chance, let go of that schedule and throw out that list of what-to-do. You may make a new friend, see life in a new light or experience happiness in a new way.

How will we ever know who we truly are if we don't live life with open minds and open hearts.

Let go, be alive and see.
