Think positive, Tim Bell!

Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 11:47 AM

It's time to share this one with Blog World. (It ran as a viewpoint in August.)

My great-grandmother, Nan, was a proponent of positive thinking.

And when she said "think positive" she meant it.

As a younger child I thought thinking positive was flowers and ice creams cones. As I grew, I understood what it meant but I couldn't train my mind to totally escape the dark pits of worry.

You, see I was a natural-born worrier.

("Was" being the optimal word.)

That's right-- I now know that we all have the ability to make our own day.

It's too easy to blame a bad mood on a co-worker, roommate, complete stranger or even a family member.

It's so easy to get caught up in the negative.

It's too hot, too cold, too expensive or there's never enough.

You know as well as I that this type of thinking is headed straight for a bad day.

So, wait right there. This is where I insert Nan's famous words. "Think positive, Tim Bell."

(Yeah, Tim Bell would be me...and just thinking about it tickles me to death.)

See I'm feeling better already because it's just as easy to be uplifted by the positive.

That's right. The sky is blue and the sun is shining down on ME. I feel good. All is well. And there is always more than enough.

Think that's silly? Well thinking silly nonsense beats worrying any day.

Smile, frown, gripe or complain.

The choice is yours. So, get out there and make your day...

Mine is already ordered and well on its way.
