An update on Oliver....

Here's Oliver. After gaining a good 40 pounds Oliver is now enjoying a new life on the west coast.
In November, I received an e-mail from a concerned resident who found a lost and injured male pup in Worthington.

The concerned resident (AKA Krystal) also asked for my help in getting the word out.

The following is a synopsis:

An owner never stepped up to claim the pup. But, Krystal did.

She took the pup to a vet's office where he received treatment for a leg injury. He more than likely was hit by a car.

Krystal continued to nurse the pup back to health and now (two months later) I received another e-mail update on the matter.

Here it is in part:

"I thought you would like to know that I found a home for the little stray dog I took in last November. I nursed him back to health, gave him the name Oliver, and then a friend of my mom's really wanted him. This weekend I drove Oliver over to Cincinnati and he caught a direct flight to San Francisco yesterday afternoon to his new owners. From what I hear, so far all is well. He loves his new owners and he's enjoying the 60 degree weather. I'll miss him, but I'm so very happy he's got a new family who will love him..."

To this I say, kudos to you Krystal. This is a great story and you are a wonderful person for reaching out to a little lost soul. Thank you for showing some love.

And here's to Oliver...Bow Wow...Can I visit in San Francisco? I'm always up for making new friends.

Thank You Timberly for the wonderful article on Oliver. I know if he could talk, he would thank you!

For anyone who reads this article, here's a bit more new information on Oliver:

It seems Oliver wasn't as healed up as I had thought. His new owner took him to the vet last week and Oliver has a crushed femur ball. He's scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday to remove the femur ball and then will spend the next week recooperating with his new mommy by his side.

The following week, he starts obedience training so he can learn to get along with his new brothers and sisters, who are all cats. But overall, Oliver has adjusted to the time change, weather change, temperature change, and family change very well. I'm so very proud of him, I knew he'd be fine.

WE LOVE AND MISS YOU OLIVER!!! HUGS AND KISSES!!!

Krystal, Colby, Aggie, and Kallie

Man, after gaining 40 pounds wouldn't that dog be obese

Not really, that dog is actually very tall for his age.

That part was a typo I think. Oliver did gain weight but not 40 lbs. His weight is 40lbs now. He gained 10 or 15 lbs though.

Hello everyone this is Seamus. My new Mummy renamed me (she's Irish.)

First thank you Krystal for taking care of me and giving me a new start. For taking me to the vet and getting me neutered and my shots, and having my leg looked at. Thank you for all the yummy meals, my home and all the love you gave me when nobody else cared. SLURP I miss you and Colby too.

Thank you Ms. Timberly Ferree for running my story and helping me find a new home. SLURP!

And thank you everyone who's followed my story.

I am doing quite well after my surgery, the vet here thought it was either a birth defect or an injury I'd had for a long, long time. I go for walks (exercise is part of the therapy) and am learning to be how my new Mummy wants me to be.

I am getting much better, but I'm still not trusted offleash around the cats, who look delicious!

I have graduated from the crate at night to being out in the bedroom, but the door is closed so I don't chase the cats when my Mum's asleep.

Unfortunately my obedience classes were cancelled as not enough people signed up, but I will be starting with another class on the 24th. Please wish me luck. I've got to learn to be nice to other dogs.

Life in California is ok, no snow (woohoo! waggy tail.)

Gotta go it's bed time and I get a yummy treat - no not one of the cats (I wish!)
