Proud mom gives update on kiddos

Posted Monday, February 14, 2011, at 1:03 PM

OK. I must kick it into overdrive. It's the a.m. and I need a column. Since I really don't have anything on my mind to share, it's time for the back-up plan.

Updates and tidbits:

* Jazz, our youngest son, is playing trumpet in the school band. He's a fifth grader so that means it is his first year to be in the school band. Of course, it's really early on in the course of things, but we're already so proud of him. At first, he wasn't too keen on being in the band. For some reason he thought he would have to solo with his instrument on stage by himself, not sure where he go that idea.... hmmm... Anyway, he's been busy practicing and I can't hide my delight in knowing that he has taken an interest in music.

* Ramsey is busy growing up on me as well. I can't believe he'll turn 16 this summer. When I was his age I had already pledged to take over the world... (A pledge I still hold myself too.) But, Rams has pledged to take over the universe. He wants be an aerospace engineer and work for NASA. (I probably already told you that, but I can't help repeating such a fine goal.)

* I ran into my cousin, Tammy, the other day. Well, we didn't collide or anything like that, it's more like we were at the same place at the same time. It was really great to see her! It had been years. Our brief visit included a few walks down memory lane in which she reminded me of some things that had lapsed from my memory. Nonetheless, all of the stories made me laugh and reminded me of times gone by at my great-grandmother, Nan's. She also told me that she enjoys reading my column, but that she really likes the updates on the kids.....

So there you have it. An update on the kiddos from one proud mama.

* When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. You are connected to your child and to all those who touch your lives. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. -- Sophia Loren
