Trust has a lot to do with striking a balance

Posted Monday, April 11, 2011, at 12:27 PM

Trust. A simple one syllable word.

Yet, it's not such an easy concept for some.

And maybe that's a little of what is wrong with the world today.

Trust can be a two-way street. Or a person can put all of his or her trust in a higher power. I value things in life that are trustworthy and I guess a matter of trust may boil down to one's definition of the concept.

If I say I'm going to do something. I do it. Granted, it may take some time but I put heart and soul into my word. I'm very trustworthy in that matter.

I trust myself. And to me that's the first step in trust. If one cannot have a complete trust in his or her person, then how can one develop it for others?

And better yet, why should a person with no trust in self ever be considered trustworthy?

So why the sudden trust tangent? A writer's work is never far from reality. And when it comes to it, trust has a lot to do with striking a certain balance.

Which leads me to the downside of the subject. I mean it's not rocket science to know not to trust everyone, right? And I can honestly say that I trust my inner-most circle of family and friends, other than that you are on my radar of not-to-trust until experience tells me otherwise. And this is all applicable to change.

Of course there's another downside to not trusting as well. The world is a cold, greedy place if you have no confidence in others. Instead of a world of living things, we see a world of take and give. Or maybe it's just a world of give, give, give until the absence of assurance makes for take, take, taking ...

Nonetheless, I highly value having confidence and balance in such matters. And in the end, it doesn't really matter if you trust me or I trust you, what truly matters is the life we have all lived.

And I choose to live a life of love and light -- which for the most part is a balance of trust and truth along with some sugar and spice.

But, don't put your trust in me. Do some of your own self-searching, if you dare ...
