Spring in Greene Co.

Posted Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 9:04 AM

Spring is a great time to be an outdoors person in Greene Co. We have many on going activities, turkey hunting has been going on with several birds being taken, mushroom season has been a good one for us and many others but I think it coming to a close, fishing is starting to pickup the last few weeks. I have had far luck using a fly rod and popper.

At Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area several rare birds species have been returning to this wetlands, the American Avocet was seen at GP10s and the American Bittern at GP9 as well as the Black-necked Stilt at GP11. I have it on good authority that an American Badger has been sited near to GP. If you like wildflowers the Muscari(Grape Hyacinth) has been in bloom at GP18. As you can see if you are an outdoors person in Greene Co there is alot to do.

I've seen more foxes in the last 12 months than I have in the last 12 years.

Oh, I can't wait for the badgers!
