Natures Beautiful AbundancePosted Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 12:44 PM
Milkweed Flower Cluster
Wildflowers at Goose Pond prairie areas like Penstemon stretching across GP9 or Day Lilies with their large orange flowers along road sides and Hemlock with its white flower and purple spotted stem and not to forget Daisy Fleabane with its small white daisies and Milkweed with its large flower cluster. The Whitetail Deer Doe with her fawn feeding in the fields of Goose Pond as evening approaches. Several Great Egrets feeding in the shallow waters of Goose Pond Main Pool West. The Sun reflecting off the water at GP11s. There are many beautiful sites if we take time to look. A new bird at Goose Pond is the Roseate Spoonbill. This exciting bird has never been seen before in Indiana has been visiting Goose Pond the last couple of weeks. It was found by Lee Sterrenburg on June 2nd. Outstanding work Lee. Around the area fisherman have been out in force. We have been having some luck on bluegill using crickets. At Goose Pond several miles of levee top mowing has been done making Walking, Hiking and Wildlife viewing more enjoyable. There are many things to see and do Outdoors if we only take the time. Roseate Spoonbill you say? I googled the creature-Nice...and how exciting to have found her(or him?) here in our beloved Indiana. Very cool.
I enjoy the Goosepond. More people should at least drive thru and see what it has to offer.
