Dave Lutes with his Greene County Buck
Several hunting seasons have been going on deer, duck & goose, quail, rabbit, squirrel to mention a few. The weather this fall has been unusually mild and some fishing has been going on. Gathering fall wild eatables has been good this year for persimmons, hickory nuts, walnuts if you know where to look. Every year people are lost in the woods whether they are hunters trailing a wounded deer or a hiker not paying attention to their surroundings or a boater / canoeist overturning in a lake, river or stream and darkness overtakes them. Many are not prepared to spend a very uncomfortable night out in the wilds or worse, hypothermia or even death from exposure. As sportsman or women would you have the skills, tools and equipment to build a fire, drink safe clean purified water, build a survival shelter in short survive the night or until help arrives? Yes I feel that I have the skills and knowledge to survive a night in the woods if it came to it. I love the out doors I'm home there.
Chuck while fishing Sat the 21st in the GS forest, my fishing buddy and I observed a very large fully mature bald eagle sitting in the top of some trees, a very wonderful sight to see in this area ( I took a pic but wasn't very good )
