Many people help make 34 Days of June celebration a success

Posted Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 11:59 AM

Another Freedom Festival has come and gone.

Mother Nature choose to not cooperate again this year for our annual parade, but the crowd for the parade remained large and only a few parade entries opted not to participate.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped with this year's 34 Days of June events and the Freedom Festival Parade and week long celebration. Our success is because of the many sponsors, entertainers and volunteers who contribute their time and talents to make this event successful.

Our 2010 parade will be on Monday, July 5. Mark your calendars now!

* As we wrap up the Freedom Festival events, we begin looking towards the Oct. 10 Fall Festival and the Oct. 27 Buy Indiana Expo.

More information on these two events will be coming in the next few weeks.

* Those folks interested in helping plan the inaugural Goose Pond Festival scheduled for March 5 and 6, 2010, should plan to meet at the Linton Library from 6-7 p.m. on July 23.

The primary purpose of the festival is to attract people to Greene County and to impart a greater conservation ethic to attendees.

* WorkOne has recently announced new Indiana MindLeader courses. As a reminder these courses are available at no charge, but you must be registered with WorkOne in order to qualify for the courses.

The new courses are:

Doing Business in China, Doing Business in India, Project Management Professional Certification 2009 (seven courses), and Visio 2007.

Additional information on how to register for these and all the MindLeader courses can be obtained by calling the WorkOne office at 847-4479.

* A reminder that on Friday Glenburn Home will be sponsoring a Great American Bake Sale from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. p.m. This nationally recognized program is a fundraiser to help insure no kid goes hungry.

All of the funds raised help feed kids. Funds raised from the local bake sale stay local, supporting after-school and summer feeding programs in our community -- food programs that hundreds and thousands of kids depend on.

All children under the age of 18 and one accompanying parent will receive free lunch from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm that day. This event is being co-sponsored by Generations.
