Thanks for the help with Fall Festival

Posted Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 10:43 PM

Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce's Fall Festival.

It was a beautiful day. We had terrific vendors and some really great chili.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the set up, worked a shift and helped clean the streets afterwards. Couldn't do these events without all of you!

* Today (Oct. 15) is our fall fish fry from 4-8 p.m. at the Roy Clark Community Building. The meal will include baked beans, slaw, dessert and drinks.

Advanced tickets are available at the Chamber office until noon and then can be purchased at the door. Advanced tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets at the door will be $8 and $5.

* Our October Chamber meeting will be at the downtown Regions Bank location. We will be meeting in its community room on the lower level.

Our host for this meeting is Greene County General Hospital, and the speaker for will be Larry Ordner. Larry is a representative from Sen. Richard Lugar's office.

This meeting is open to chamber members and their guests.

* Clothe-A-Child and Toys for Tots applications are available for pick up from our office. Applications should be completed and returned on or before Nov. 1.

* A quick reminder that the local WorkOne office is having free workshops this month.

On Oct. 20 from 1-3:30 p.m. it will conduct a workshop on how to Create Good Resumes in Indiana Career Connect and Oct. 22 it will offer a workshop on Job Search Techniques from 1-3:30 p.m.

All workshops are free but require advanced registration. To register contact the WorkOne office at 847-4479, ext. 244.

* Chamber member Bloomfield-based Monroe Primary Care is pleased to announce that it will sponsor a community scholarship program in support of community outreach support to all Greene County area high school seniors.

Interested seniors who wish to apply for assistance for continued education and training are invited to apply for the first $500 grant to be awarded in December.

Information and applications may be obtained by visiting the Monroe Primary Care office or contacting Lisa Morrison at lisamorrisonmedia@yahoo.com Applications will be accepted until Nov. 30.

* Do you know a women who has gone the extra mile? Someone who has made a difference to their community, other women, their country?

Please take a minute to review the application for Torchbearer and consider submitting an outstanding woman for this recognition. (Also plan on attending the event. It's a great way to hear stories of how women are making a difference in Indiana).

Below is web link for further information. Nomination forms for the 2010 Torchbearer Awards now available at www.in.gov/icw. Take the time to recognize the accomplishment of a special woman in your life.

Applications are due in early December.
