Santa will be in his workshop SaturdayPosted Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 3:47 PM
Santa will be in his workshop at the Linton Rotary Park in downtown Linton on Saturday from 1-4 pm. If you haven't stopped in to tell Santa what's on your Christmas wish list, please do so.
Santa's last day in the workshop before he heads back to the North Pole will be Saturday, Dec. 19. * For those of you who eagerly awake the arrival of the State's Office of Tourism publications, they are now available at the Chamber office. This includes the Travel Indiana Guide and the Indiana State Festival Association's Festival Guide. Just stop in the Chamber office during our regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and pick up your copies. These are free of charge. * Are you considering starting your own business or have you just started a new small business? Then the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) has a workshop for you! Launching Your Own Business is a hands-on, information-packed workshop that provides sound and proven tools to get you on the road to success. The workshop will be Wednesday, Dec. 16 with two available sessions at 3 to 5 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. at the White River Valley High School Community Learning Center, State Road 54, Switz City, Ind. For information about the program contact the South Central Indiana Small Business Development Center at (812) 330-6272 or www.isbdc.org. To register, contact the Hoosier Heartland RC&D Council office at (317) 290-3250 or visit their Web site at www.ruralenet.org to see the flyer with registration form. * The Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) is seeking nominations for recipients of the 2010 Salute to Indiana Women: The Sixth Annual Torchbearer Awards. The Torchbearer Awards are the State of Indiana's most prestigious recognition of women and will be announced at a Gala Event on March 2, 2010. This is the only program in which the State of Indiana recognizes and honors her finest natural resource -- the women of Indiana. Indiana Torchbearers are those women who have stepped forward in all areas of society to carry the light for women. They have led the ways for others by breaking down barriers to women's full participation and have become true beacons of light by overcoming challenges that all women face with courage, perseverance and compassion and by creating lasting legacies that serve as an inspiration for all. Nominations must be postmarked by Dec. 16. If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Chamber office. * A Pleasant Grove Christmas Musical will soon be approaching. Once again Pleasant Grove Farms south of Linton will be offering their Christmas Music choreographed to lights. The choreographed light show will run from Dec. 12-27 from 6-10 p.m. each night. A Patriotic show is planned for Dec. 27 through Jan. 1. It is recommended that you use one of the four parking lots, tune your radio to FM 90.1 and sit and enjoy the shows.
