The Circus is coming to Linton.
That's right this Saturday the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Kelley-Miller Circus in Humphreys Park. There will be two shows -- at 2 in the afternoon and the second at 5:30. The Big Tent will be raised at 9 a.m. and the public is invited to watch the tent raising. Advanced tickets are now available Regions Bank, Angell's Food Center, Patrick's Restaurant & Bowl in Sullivan, Bloomfield State Bank's Greene County locations, the Greene County Daily World and the Chamber of Commerce office. Advance ticket prices for adults is $10 each and a child's advance ticket is $6. Friday will be your last day to purchase advance tickets. Advance tickets will be pulled from the ticket locations at noon. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance as the adults will be $14 at the box office the day of the circus and children will be $7 at the box office. Each performance will be approximately one and a half hours. This is a terrific family event. Proceeds from this event benefit the Linton Freedom Festival and our fireworks fund. * Congratulations to the Linton Community Food Pantry and Thrift Store. The food pantry was recently named the Chamber Member of the Month. The Pantry is located on North 4th Street and open on Tuesday and Thursday from 1-4 p.m. and on Saturday's from 10 a.m. - noon. The pantry is sponsored by local churches including Chamber members Linton United Methodist Church, Linton First Christian Church, Saron Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. Donations of food and quality clothing are welcome and accepted at the Food Pantry only during business hours. Donation bins are available at Linton First Christian Church. All donations are tax deductible and 100 percent of the monetary donations go towards the purchase of food to be distributed. Congratulations! * Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 8. That is the date set for Angell Food Center's Relay For Life ribeye steak cookout. A portion of the proceeds from the ribeyes will be donated back to the Relay For Life program. There will also be "celebrity" grocery baggers that day. The "celebrities" will be accepting tips for their hard work and those proceeds will be donated back to Relay as well. The 2010 Relay for Life is scheduled for May 15-16. This year's Relay will return to WRV school. The annual Luminaria Ceremony will take place at dusk on the 15th. Candles will be lit to remember loved ones lost to cancer and to show support to those currently fighting. You may dedicate a Luminaria to a loved one by donating $10 to the American Cancer Society. For more information, contact Deidra at 847-8207. * The Roy Clark and Friends concert and the Friends of Phil Harris Golf Tournament are both fast approaching. These two events kick off the 34 Days Of June activities in Linton. Tickets are still available for the show. This year's show is slated for Saturday, June 5 at the Linton-Stockton High School. The golf tournament will be June 5 and June 6 with the practice round scheduled for Friday, June 4 at the Phil Harris Golf course.
