Thank you to everyone who joined us at our September Chamber meeting hosted by Autumn Trace of Greene County. Tammy Johnson and her staff gave our members a tour of the facility and answered questions regarding the amenities offered at Autumn Trace. A huge thank you to Tammy and the entire staff for accommodating our group. If you have not yet had an opportunity to visit Autumn Trace, please take an hour from your day and do so.
Our next Chamber meeting will be on Tuesday, October 18 at Noon. We will be meeting at YoDelicious in downtown Linton. Catering will be provided by Trent Wilkes with Tastee Creations. Our speaker for October will be Congressman Larry Bucshon. Please mark your calendar now and plan to join us. This will be an opportunity to ask the Congressman questions concerning you and your businesses. Watch for additional details in the coming weeks. As a reminder, this meeting will be open to all LSCC Chamber members and their guests.
Congratulations to all the Torch Bearers who represented Greene County during the Bicentennial Torch relay. What a wonderful honor to be selected to represent our county. A huge thank you to Greene County Economic Development and the Greene 16 committee who have been working for over a year in preparing for our county’s festivities, including the Torch relay and all the legacy projects throughout Greene County.
Thursday, October 13 will be the Chamber’s fall fish fry. This will begin at 4:00 PM at the Roy Clark Building. This is always a great evening for fellowship and a way to support the Chamber and it’s Freedom Festival activities. Advance tickets are available at the Chamber office and are $8.00 for adults; $4.00 for children 10 and under. The dinner will consist of fish, baked beans, slaw, applesauce, dessert. Also included will be your choice of tea, lemonade or coffee. Mark your calendar and plan to join us.
The Linton Fall Arts Festival will be October 8 in downtown Linton. Hosted by RDL, they have a wide variety of activities scheduled for the day. The day’s events kick off with a Pancake breakfast at the Linton Fire Station. Arts and Crafts exhibitors open their booths at 10:00 AMon East Vincennes Street. The BBQ Cook-off Challenge this year will be near the Carnegie Heritage Arts Center. The Classic Car Cruise In will be at 4:00 PM at City Hall. Linton VFW will be holding a spaghetti dinner beginning at 4:00 PM and at 8:00 PM the band City Lights will be performing. The evening will conclude with S’mores and Firepits at 6:00 PM.
As announced last week, new this year for the 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be a Business Division. We encourage our local businesses to register a team and participate in this challenge. Teams can be co-ed. Wouldn’t you enjoy the bragging rights of knowing your business is our basketball champions? Teams can register at JSeven Sports Grille between now and October 8 or register at 9:00 AM the morning of the tournament. Also new to the 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be a Girl’s Division.
