These things amuse and perplex me

Is it just me or have you noticed that as soon as a road is paved or asphalted and brought to excellent condition, a utility company will cut a hole in it or make a cut entirely across it? Or someone will drive a bulldozer across it.
Why do people have their home address number made in such fancy style that they are too hard to read form the street?
Why do businessmen, politicians, athletes and George write their signatures with some ungodly scribble or symbol that is unintelligible to anyone except perhaps a six-month-old child? Is it an attempt to be original? Is it a sign of importance because I sign my name hundreds of times? Is it an attempt to be discrete or incognito? Now because of those inconsiderate folks, I have to sign my name and then print it.
I chuckle every time I talk about some TV show and a person using a voice that is one-thousandth of a millimeter from labeling me as an utter and abject idiotic dolt, says, “I don’t watch TV.” Then a show begins and Mr. Sancti Monious quickly intones, “That is a rerun.” How does he know if he never watches TV?
It drives me to distraction when people talk to me and use terms such as “She Goes,” “He Goes,” “I Went,” “She Went,” “I was like,” “He was like.” Or they will say, “She was all ‘Oortgmlke” or some other guttural and unintelligible sound that is supposed to convey meaning. What has happened to words such as, “said, stated, reiterated, asked, exclaimed, intervened or other words that refer to the process of speaking?” What is happening to genteel and Standard English?
When someone says, “I know what I’m thinking but I can’t put it into words,” write it down, that person does not know what (s)he believes on that topic. It also is an indication that the person is still trying to determine how (s)he feels about that subject or situation. There is nothing inherently wrong with that situation, the person is still processing the information and forming an opinion.
Why isn’t it possible to select our dream theme and stay with it? What happens when we wake up while dreaming, that makes it impossible to return to sleep and resume dreaming about the same topic? Who and what makes the August decision that selects my dream subject? It seems I have cycles when the subject is repeated frequently then that subject disappears and may never return.
Here is an oldie but a goodie: Those people who think they know everything are very annoying to those of us who do.
Have you noticed how many people who eat out frequently gripe about the quality and the quantity of food in most restaurants? It causes me to wonder if the dining experience is so unsatisfactory, why do they continue to eat out.
What is the appropriate response to one who asks, “Hot enough for you?”
What is the appropriate response to one who says, “Cold enough for you?”
I have noticed that the person who always has the right answer or knows what to do in all situations, is rarely the person who will be held accountable if something goes wrong!
In situations where co-workers mingle such as holiday parties or training sessions, the ones doing the most talking have the least power and authority.
Why do those who wish to do what they want, when they want to, where they want to seem to know their rights but they are completely ignorant of their responsibilities?
I ponder about those matters and others.
