Go Hoosiers!Posted Friday, February 13, 2009, at 11:50 AM
So those old sports media people may be talking about how the Hoosiers don't have a very good record this year.
There's been some times in the past when fans just didn't like the idea of a losing record -- not at all. This year is different. I've been to most of the home games this year, and talked to a lot of fans and I think it's possible this year's team might end up capturing a very special soft spot high in the hearts of IU fans -- no matter what the record says. There's too many fans that are not thinking about the record at those games. They're not hanging on a record, they're hanging on every basket. They look to me more like parents at a high school basketball game -- you know, the ones with the kids that have been sitting on the bench ... then they finally get into the game, then they get the ball and they turn to shoot ... oh, my gosh, please let it go in ... the parents knees get weak and their heart starts pounding, and they just want that kid to make that shot -- so so bad!!! Cheering for this team is like cheering for your own kids. Every basket is sweet. Indiana, our Indiana, Indiana, we're all for you. Go IU! That's true, I guess, but for an IU Hater(such as myself) this season is amazing for them.
Well, it might end up being the season that fans have a soft spot in their hearts for or it might be a season that fans want to forget and never want to talk about again........except to say in a few years, after IU wins the big ten, to say remember how bad they were back then

I agree Anna.... I watch and pray that shots go in... They have more grit than almost any team I've ever watched.... Not the most talanted but the biggest hearts I've ever seen!! Go IU
