Marsh Madness means spring is nearPosted Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 2:19 PM
The days are getting longer and spring's getting closer. It seems like summer was so very long ago. Too much ice, too much snow this year to suit me.
But this weekend is Marsh Madness -- a relatively new but definite sign of spring in Greene County. And the day we "Spring Forward" and set the clocks up an hour for daylight-savings time is less than two weeks away -- Sunday, March 13. Besides changing the clocks, another sign that spring is just around the corner for college students and their parents is the looming deadline to fill out financial aid forms. For most schools, that's coming up fast -- Thursday, March 10. Easter falls late this year -- not until the end of April. I'm looking forward to the sunny warm morning when overnight, the violets have popped up all over the yard.
