Things I Am Thankful For...

Posted Thursday, November 26, 2009, at 7:43 PM

I am thankful for a lot of things, but I will try to make a top five list of things for which I am thankful. I encourage my readers and respondents to follow suit.

5) Thankful for music. If music did not exist, I would not know what to do with myself. People feel that way about their phone, TV, Xbox 360, etc, but that is how I feel about music, and I am sure other people feel the same way. Music plays such an integral part in our culture. Don't believe me, then tell an Elvis lover The Beatles were a bigger market in the United States, or try to sit through church without hearing a song. I doubt any of those mentioned scenarios would be played out.

4) Thankful for sports. Sport is truly the international language. Here in America, after we eat our turkey, or during our festivities, we watch football. During the spring, we get to hear how our baseball teams will be, or how 102 years is overdue for a World Series (That's for you, Paps).

3) Thankful for education. Had it not been for education some people (like me) would not have the drive we currently possess. I have often said to others, people can overeat, watch too much television, but no one can have too much education.

2) Thankful for living in the United States. We take for granted the many freedoms we have in this country, whereas in other countries they could not do. Had we not lived in this country, we could not discuss politics, religion, and society as aggressively and freely as we currently do. I am also thankful for the military who go where pointed and execute what is planned, and defend our freedoms that are so vital for the citizens. I am also thankful for you readers and respondents, who attempt to add quality comments to complicated world. It is because of you I write, and I love when productive conversations are had (Shout out to CowRancher!).

1) Thankful for family and friends. The aforementioned are important but not as important to a person as his/her family and friends. My family has been there for me and continues to support me in my endeavors and I truly appreciate it. I only wish I could be there for them as often as they have been there for me. My friends, although few in number, are important to me. I am not an easy person to understand, but if you can stand to stick around for a while, you might comprehend my actions. So to Paps, Dennis and Jane, Kris and Brenda, Greg and Amy; Rylee, Ashlyn, Lauren, and Ava; to Grandma and Mom-mom thank you so much for everything you do/have done. To Bryan, Shane, Rachel, Mark Messmer, Morgan, Josh G, Cactus John, Bobby, Katy, Jessica, Ashlea, and Petey; you are great friends and I am unsure what I would do without you.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and be safe shopping on Black Friday!

Till Next Time...

You're right Drew, this country is great because of our freedom!

Happy Thanksgiving!
