The Grand FinalePosted Friday, July 1, 2011, at 12:14 AM
Woooo!
I have simply said everything that I wanted to say and wish to focus my attention to my City Council campaign. There are, however, some memories that I will not forget that I would like to share. One is when I spoke to a legislator who told me (over the phone) that I do not "write in a vacuum." Indeed "lives are affected" by what is published by me. I was polite to this legislator and did not interrupt him while he was on his monologue. I would like to remind that same legislator that he does not legislate in a vacuum, and I hope he understands that. For if he cannot grasp that I critiqued his voting record and accept the criticism that goes with the territory, then this legislator has no business being in politics. If I was not so polite over the phone, I would have reminded him of this fact that he seems so eager to forget. Another is when I went to the voter registration's office and a lady behind the counter asked me if I was the same person who wrote in the Greene County Daily World (GCDW). Now, I must say that I am apprehensive to confirm it because of the possible backlash that could happen. I understand not everyone agrees with my perspective but her response to my affirmative answer surprised me. She told me that her husband agreed with me on some issues and I was delighted that someone agreed with me. It was a pretty awesome feeling. I even ran into people who did not agree with me, like one of my high school teachers and basketball coaches. He told me that he did not always agree with the things I wrote but appreciated the perspective. I remember the euphoria I felt that he read the things I wrote. One experience that is a bit better than the last was when I wrote about Meghan McCain. I follow her on Twitter and when I posted the blog, I tweeted her about it. She then retweeted my blog and suddenly people from all across the country were reading my entries. Pretty cool. Here are some final thoughts that I would like to share with you: Stevie Ray Vaughan is the best guitarist who ever lived. The New York Yankees are the worst baseball franchise ever. The Beatles is the greatest band ever assembled. Andrew Jackson is one of the best presidents this country has had. The 2004 Boston Red Sox had the best post season in baseball history. I love Jasonville. The Princess Bride is a pretty good movie, but Monty Python and the Holy Grail makes me laugh hysterically. The West Wing was the one of the best shows on television. Dogs make the best pets and they are not racist (inside joke with my friends). The 1990s had some pretty awesome music. It is possible to be a Christian and a Democrat, despite what religious leaders say. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is a rockin' song. I love my family. 2001 is the first year of the 21st century. Finally, the GCDW has a genuine dedication to journalism. I want to thank every single reader of "The Point." It has been a tremendous honor to write a column that was read and commented. I must say that it was a blessing. I want to thank Chris Pruett and the GCDW for allowing me to bring a viewpoint that is underrepresented. I want to leave you with these parting words from U2 and The Who: "And it's true we are immune. When fact is fiction and TV reality. And today the millions cry. We eat and drink while tomorrow they die. So the real battle has begun. To claim the victory Jesus won. " "I don't need to fight to prove I'm right." Take care and if you see me, feel free to say hello. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Best thing you've ever written.
B-ball fan: LOL!
Answer: No - there is not.
There are some that would attempt to dispute that, but we all know the truth.
Thanks for the laugh!
