I enjoy watching moviesPosted Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 4:16 PM
On a cold winter night, there's not much better than cuddling up on the couch with a soft, warm blanket and a bowl of popcorn to watch a good movie.
While I enjoy watching movies, my husband will be the first to point out that I'm not the best at watching new movies. I'm guilty of watching the same movies over and over and over. Recently, I've expanded my viewing and watched some new movies such as the Hangover and Role Models.
Frequent movies in my DVD player are The Wizard of Oz, which is my all time favorite movie. I've always loved The Wizard of Oz and now my oldest daughter loves it, too. Between the two of us, we can recite way too much of the movie. She dressed as Dorothy for Halloween last year and even has a stuffed dog whose name is Toto.
Other favorites of mine include: Dirty Dancing, the Harry Potter series, the Twilight Saga, the Notebook, Fireproof, and Facing the Giants. I'm also a sucker for good sports movies like A League of Their Own, Sandlot, and the Natural.
So, I need to branch out and watch some new movies. Any suggestions? What are your favorite movies? Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

A few come to my mind right away:
A River Runs through It, The Razor's Edge (the newer one with Bill Murray), and for something completely different you really might want to try Contact (with Jodie Foster). They might make you cry but they each speak to the fragility of life and how love can bring both unspeakable happiness and sadness at the same time.
High Noon with Gary Cooper.
Gone With The Wind! I like you on The Wizard of Oz could watch this movie a hundred times and still watch it one more time. And another is Dances With Wolves and anything with Chevy Chase, Tim Allen or Steve Martin. As you can guess I love a good, clean comedy. Im not much into the slasher movies or the real gory ones. My daughter is really into those but also she likes the Twight Movies.
I'd like to recommend I Love You, Man w/ Paul Rudd, Wedding Crashers, Yes Man w/ Jim Carrey, The Proposal, and 27 Dresses. These are all great comedies. I also found The Lord of the Rings quite enjoyable, despite initially vowing to never ever watch it. For the kid in you, if you've never seen Finding Nemo or Open Season, these are also very good movies. Oh, and a blast from the past that I have watched more than a few times is The 'Burbs with Tom Hanks!! So funny!
Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood, Taken with Liam Neeson, He's Just Not That Into You, What Happens In Vegas, The Devil Wears Prada (I love Cinderella-type movies), all the Rocky movies, Shawshank Redemption. Those are just some of my favorites. And, of course, Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman!
