Good luck Lady Miners; great job Shakamak Lady LakersPosted Friday, February 19, 2010, at 11:25 AM
Good luck to the Linton Lady Miners, Coach Brad McKinney and his staff as they take part in the Class 2A regional Saturday. Bring home a regional title, ladies!
The Lady Miners have had a great season thus far and regardless of the outcome in the regional, they definitely have had a season to be proud of.
24 and no more!
Congrats to the Shakamak Lady Lakers on a good season. The Lakers ended their season in the championship game of the Class A Clay City sectional earlier this week.
I must admit that I was a bit emotional as the final seconds of the sectional title game ticked away.
Over the past eight years, I have watched many basketball games featuring this year's senior class. It was great to see those girls grow and mature -- on and off the court -- these last eight years. It doesn't seem like that long ago they were suiting up for their first game as fifth graders and now they've completed their high school basketball careers. Those four seniors -- Casey Fougerousse, Marki Collins, Kristi Pearson, and Cassandra Holdaway -- are a great group of dedicated, hard-working girls and I'm confident they will be successful in whatever paths they chose.
What made the situation even more emotional is I knew I was watching my uncle Troy Fougerousse (the head coach for the Lady Lakers) coach his daughter Casey for the very last time. The past two seasons have been a real treat for our family to have Troy coaching Casey. Not many dads get the chance to coach their daughter's at that level. I'm sure Troy and Casey made a lot of great memories over the pasts two seasons.
Single-season Cubs tickets went on sale today. Hurry up, baseball season -- I'm ready for one of these years to finally be the one for Cubs fans.
