Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge sports fan. Baseball. Football. Basketball. I'm also a big fan of sports movies.
I recently saw a list of the top 25 sports movies. The top 10, were: 1. Raging Bull 2. Hoosiers 3. Rocky 4. Slap Shot 5. Bull Durham 6. The Natural 7. Caddyshack 8. Breaking Away 9. Major League 10. Field of Dreams While reading through the top 25, I decided to make a top list of my own. My top 10 sports movies are: 1. Field of Dreams 2. Remember the Titans 3. The Sandlot 4. Facing the Giants 5. A League of Their Own 6. Bull Durham 7. Hoosiers 8. The Natural 9. Major League 10. Jerry Maguire What sports movies make your top 10 list? No Rudy?! Hoosiers at #7?!
How very un-Hoosier of you!
For the love of the game is a good one too!
For Love of the Game is a great one!
I love all the Rocky movies, even the bad ones. Hoosiers, of course and my new favorite is The Blind Side.
1. The Big Lebowski
.
.
.
n. everything else.
The Dude abides GarthHudson...
Nice call on Pre, djobbs. Very underrated in my opinion.
You've got to give Over the Top some credit though. It could be the #1 arm wrestling/trucker flick on the market.
Can we add The Wizard to this list? Competitive gaming could be considered a sport.
"I love the Power Glove."
I've always liked "Over the Top" for some reason. I'm not usually a fan of those types of movies.
Hoosiers by far!
Hoosiers and The Babe with John Goodman.
Don't forget Breaking Away (filmed in Bloomington)
And another great cycling movie is American Flyers with Kevin Costner.
I thought Miracle was a great movie too.
I liked A League of Their Own too. Great movie and definitely top 10!
There are tons of good sports movies out there. Hoosiers will always be my top dog, but others have moved in and out of my top ten. Does Karate Kid fit in with sports movies.
I wonder what the top 10 worst sports movies of all-time are...I can handle the over the top sports sequences(like Varsity Blues), but I can't stomach the movies that have none athletes playing the role of an athlete. Leonardo DiCaprio in Basketball Diaries comes to mind as a moving that lasted less than 10 minutes for me...I couldn't get past his horrible form while dribbling and shooting.
No love for Blue Chips?
Secretariat
Seabiscuit
I'm impressed by the number of excellent sports movies filmed here in Indiana, Hoosiers, Rudy, A League of Their Own, Breaking Away.
Being an auto racing fan, I have to add a few of my own, including:
Grand Prix (always will be the best of this genre)
Le Mans
Winning
To Please a Lady
The Big Wheel
Blind Side is a Top 10. Did anyone
mention 'Radio?'
We Are Marshal was a great movie. And I didn't see The Replacements or The Game Plan.
I love "we are marshall","the blind side","Radio","Sandlot","Remember the titans", oh and "Angels in the outfield"!!!
