Looking Back and a Glimpse into the FuturePosted Wednesday, May 4, at 3:25 PM Time has definitely flown these last four years. I can hardly believe I'm sitting at my desk one final exam away from being done with my undergraduate classes. Looking back at my four years of being on the Ball State women's golf team, I can honestly say that it's been some of the best times of my life...
Last Chance at MAC Golf has a way of reminding you that you've never actually mastered it. I've recently learned that lesson once again, and quite frankly I would have liked to learn this lesson without having to shoot high scores. After two rounds in the mid eighties, I've put those poor rounds behind me and am working harder than ever in my last 2 weeks of college golf practice. Nothing like the end of a career to give you that last kick in the butt you know you need sometimes...
UNLV Final Results After a very breezy day on the course Tuesday, Wednesday's final round at UNLV was marked by much calmer conditions. As a team we finished in 12th place in the 15-team field. Although it was not the finish we wanted, we still played well in a very tough field. Here are the individual results from the 3-day tournament:...
Kelly 2nd at Rio Verde; Duke Career Low at UNLV The team continued to enjoy the sunny and warm weather as we concluded the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. We started the day off in 10th place and finished in the same position. There were 17 teams in the field, including fellow Mid American Conference teams, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, University of Akron, University of Toledo, Ohio University, and Bowling Green. Eastern Michigan won the event by 1 stroke over Northern Arizona...
Today was "Moving" Day for the Team Sunny skies, warm weather, and a good night rest resulted in a better day on the golf course today! After a fun night with parents, coaches, teammates, and host families, we were ready to hit the links for "moving" day. With almost everyone on the team improving today, the team moved up to 10th place. Scores today were as follows:...
First Round at Rio Verde I feel a little selfish writing this blog tonight. In the past two days, two people I know have passed away. Mayor Tom Jones and Trish Hargis (wife of GCDW sports editor B.J. Hargis) will both be greatly missed, may they rest in peace. To make a difficult day on the golf course even harder, my coach is dealing with the illness of a close family member as well...
A Quick Update on a Study Break As I write this I am sitting in the library taking a short break from studying. Being a student-athlete is an exciting and great opportunity, but sometimes it's very stressful. Especially when we have to miss several days of classes in a row. To make matters worse, we are missing 3 days right before spring break. ...
Final Results from Texas State As we nurse our sunburns and prepare to head back to real winter temperatures, we can be happy with our performance at our first spring tournament! We started the day in 7th place and ended tied for 6th out of 17 teams. Brittany and I tied for third with a three-round total of 227. We were only 2 shots out of first place!...
A quick update It was a busy day Monday and we're getting ready to fly back to Indianapolis this morning (Tuesday), so I'll give you a quick update and then offer more later. Ball State finished tied for sixth at the Texas tournament at Victoria, and I finished tied for third overall with teammate Brittany Kelly. There were 17 teams and 90 players...
Round 1 and Most of Round 2 in Texas A chilly, foggy morning turned out to be a great day at Victoria Country Club. After almost four months off, we jumped right into competition this morning as if we had just come off of a summer full of practice. Fellow senior Brittany Kelly led us in the first round with a 77, and I followed close behind with a 78. ...
One more season As excited as I am to start playing golf again, it's bittersweet this year because it's my last. We kick off our Spring 2011 season in Victoria, TX, in the Texas State Claude Jacobs Invitational. Today (Saturday) was the practice round, which was played as a college-amateur. ...
For a video recap of Pruett's victory and the team's third-place finish, go to the Ball State Sports Link at --- Ball State Sports "Link-ed IN": Sept. 30, 2010 from Ball State Student Media on Vimeo. _ There was a buzz in the air after the final round of the 2010 Cardinal Classic. As scores were slowly posted, Ball State coach Katherine Mowat tried to gather information from other coaches to see if her player would take medalist honors...
It's tournament time! The weekend we've been waiting for is finally here. It's tournament time! Ball State will take part in the Michigan Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. We'll play 36 holes Saturday and 18 on Sunday. (The golf course is right across the street from "The Big House." I'm anxious to see the football stadium.)...
Back to School Already?! I say the same thing every year, and I'll risk sounding like a broken record by saying it again. "I can't believe it's time for school to start! Where did the summer go?" Furthermore, I can't believe I'm a senior in college! Wow, time really does fly!...
It was a great summer on the course! We say it every summer, but here it is again almost August and I'll say it again, "Wow summer has flown by!" This has been an especially good summer as I've played some of my best golf heading into my final year at Ball State University. Kicking off the summer, qualifying for a Duramed Future Tour event was an unexpected way to begin my summer. ...
Playing with the pros A dream came true earlier this week. I qualified for a professional golf tournament at Mason, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati. It's called the Teva Championship, and is part of the Duramed Futures Tour, a developmental tour for the LPGA. It's the same as Triple A in baseball...
After such a successful spring season, it was only fitting that we have a program best finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship. Our second-place finish is the best in school history, but the awards didn't end there. Senior Kirsty O'Connor was awarded the MAC Sportswoman of the Year award. ...
Team and Pruett in 2nd Place at MAC Championship A little rain didn't stop the Mid American Conference Championship from getting under way today. First round play began this morning at The Hawthorns in Fishers, Indiana. We posted a very solid round of 301 as a team, and are four strokes behind the leading team (Kent State University). This puts us in a really good position for the next two days...
Conference Championship, College Golf's March Madness March madness might be over, but the excitement of the college golf post-season play is just beginning. Friday April 23, 2010, marks the first round of the 2010 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Hawthorns golf course in Fishers, Indiana...
Master's Sunday at IU Invitational It's Master's Sunday, and we were about to begin our final round as well. Coach told us before the round to use what we've learned about the course to our advantage. With tricky greens, shot placement was key. The team responded by posting our second lowest round of the spring season, 294. Yes, the coaches will be wearing skorts at the MAC championship!...
