Arizona here we come!

Posted Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 10:38 AM

Editor's Note: Rachael Pruett, a 2007 Linton-Stockton High School graduate, is a junior on the Ball State University golf team. The Cardinals will play a three-day tournament in Rio Verde, Ariz., on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will play another three-day tournament in Las Vegas on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Pruett will share her thoughts on her experiences in this blog.

When we started season weights and conditioning about four months ago, this day seemed so far away. As we crammed for finals in December, the thought of spring break was just another piece of information taking up space in our brain along with all the other useless (OK maybe not useless) information we'd shoved up there.

Now as we drive to the Indianapolis International Airport, we look back at the countless hours spent in the weight room and MDs Golf Academy and know that despite the harsh winter weather, we've done all we could do to prepare for our first two tournaments.

As we zoom down the runway and the plane slowly lifts into the air, we leave Indiana behind for the next nine days. With that, we leave the stresses of school, training, and life on the ground and prepare to play golf and have fun.

My past (I'm a junior) spring break experiences have been unforgettable. I'll never forget seeing the desert for the first time, and it taking me five holes before I looked up and was breathless as I saw the gorgeous mountains in the distance. I can't wait to see what spring break 2010 has in store for us!

I look forward to sharing results and stories from the road these next several days. You can bet (no pun intended) there will be The Hangover quotes as we make our way to Las Vegas.

I'm getting the evil eye from the flight attendant; I guess I better fasten my seatbelt and put my tray table in the "locked and upright position."

See you in Arizona!
