Round One Down, Moving Day TomorrowPosted Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 8:30 AM
From left to right: Chantelle Hefer, Kristtini Cain, Rachael Pruett, and Kirsty O'Connor are on the range warming up before the practice round Thursday in Rio Verde, AZ.
Brittany led us today with her steady play, firing 1 over 72 and is tied for 4th place individually. Kirsty and I shot a pair of 77s, Kristtini had an 81, and Katie shot 82. With a team total of 307, we had a very nice start to the spring 2010 season.
There may have been some missed opportunities, and bad bounces along the way, but all in all it was a very successful day. It's hard to believe that we've been practicing indoors for the last 3 months. I felt like I'd been playing all winter. Coach said it perfectly, "We have to trick ourselves into believing we've been playing outside because that's the way it is." That is so true. Just because we can't play outdoors doesn't mean we don't expect to play quality golf at the beginning of the season.
After a quality day on the golf course, we wrapped the evening up with a pot luck dinner with our host families, parents, and other family members. Joan and Terry were nice enough to have everyone over for a chance to meet and visit.
Tomorrow's goal is to go back out on the course and learn from today. You can't control everything about golf, but you can learn from your mistakes.
