Third Straight 6th Place Finish for CardinalsPosted Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 8:06 AM
After Monday's marathon, Tuesday's final round of 18-holes seemed like a sprint to the finish line. Nonetheless, the course was still playing very long after additional rain Monday afternoon.
Once again, the team finished 6th in a very strong field. Brittany captured another top 10, finishing tied for 7th after rounds of 77, 73, and 78. I had a solid tournament shooting scores of 77, 77, and 78 (T15th). Kristtini fired three rounds of 79, 84, and 80. Kirsty shot 84, 82, and 84; and Katie's three round totals were 79, 82, and 89. Mother Nature decided to make things interesting for us. In Monday's morning round, we saw rain, snow, and hail in a matter of about 45 minutes. But then the sun came out and warmed things up for a while. Thankfully, Tuesday's weather was much nicer. I was able to shed all layers by the end of the day! Golf is a unique sport in many ways. One of which is how you get to interact with your competitors. My group for the 36-hole day was great. Although they may have been complaining about the weather non-stop, they were nice girls and I enjoyed playing golf with them for 10 plus hours. Golf is also a very international sport, and many teams have players from all over the world (including us!). I love how many different people I get to meet while playing college golf! We played with people from Columbia, Sweden, Australia, Austria, and Bulgaria just to name a few. So, despite disappointing weather and course conditions, we had a successful trip to Stockbridge, Georgia! We will be competing again on Sunday and Monday in Southern Illinois' home tournament. Maybe it's me but I thought this was an article about a local high school. Am I wrong. Who the heck are the Cardinals?
The Cardinals are the Ball State University Cardinals. A Linton-Stockton graduate, Rachael Pruett, is a member of the golf team and blogs about her experiences traveling around the country playing in different tournaments and meeting new people.
This was all explained in the first couple of blogs.
