After such a successful spring season, it was only fitting that we have a program best finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship. Our second-place finish is the best in school history, but the awards didn't end there.

Senior Kirsty O'Connor was awarded the MAC Sportswoman of the Year award. All the female golfers and coaches in the MAC vote on this award. This is the first Ball State player to receive this prestigious award, and is indicative of Kirsty's amazing character, personality, and leadership. Big congratulations to Kirsty!

Head coach Katherine Mowat was also honored with MAC Coach of the Year. This is a huge honor as her fellow head coaches vote on it. As a player for Mowat, I can attest to how much this award is deserved. Coach has put everything into making us the best possible golfers. That means working on our actual golf game, our mental game, and physical fitness. In addition, Coach emphasizes the importance of academics, which shows as we had the highest team GPA at Ball State. Congratulations and thank you, Coach!

Brittany Kelly concluded the tournament with a great round of 71 (76-74-71--221), which was good enough to push her into second place overall, three shots behind medalist Martina Gavier.

Heading into Sunday's final round I was tied for second, but after a rough day and shooting 79 (72-73-79--224), I dropped to fifth place.

Brittany and I made the MAC All Tournament Team, and Brittany was also named to the All MAC First Team.

Kristtini Cain had rounds of 77-77-76 for a 230 total and T15th finish. Kirsty concluded her final MAC Championship with rounds of 76-81-80 (237) and in a tie for 23rd place. Katie Windlan shot rounds of 84-80-82 (246, T33rd) in her first conference tournament.

On a side note, we won the skit challenge! Only two other teams participated, but hopefully the other teams saw how much fun we had and will participate next season!

This has been an amazing season. From breaking school records in Las Vegas, to our great finish at the conference tournament, it's been a great ride. Now, it's time to cram for finials, and get ready to say goodbye to Kirsty. She will be greatly missed and we hate to see her go, but we wish her all the best as she completes her masters degree at Akron University. She will also be the graduate assistant with the women's golf team.

Thank you to my coaches and teammates for making this a great season! Let's work hard this summer and come back and break all of our new records next season!!

Go Balls U golf!!

As an alumnus of BSU (MA 1995) it is always nice to read a story such as this one. Thank you!
