'Reframing America' photography by Jay Reed at Carnegie July 2-4
A selected portion of the "Reframing America" photography collection will be on display in the South East Gallery at the Carnegie Heritage & Arts Center Saturday, July 2, 3 and 4.
"Reframing America" by Jeffrey (Jay) Reed is a fresh and intimate look at our great American landscapes.
Jay returns once again to his native Linton to share images from his varied travels. Raised in Linton where many of his family still resides, Reed attributes much of his unique world prospective to the examples of hard work and dedication instilled in him growing up here in Linton.
"You may leave this area, but the examples and experiences you carry with you, they become the building blocks for a more visceral journey through life," Reed stated.
Coming from a small town, he believes, is an advantage over people raised in large urban areas by giving more honest and hopeful look at the world thus making us more legitimate characters on this canvas of life.
Although Reed has traveled all over the world, his recent focus has shifted to North America.
He believes there is so much beauty to experience here in America that his last major excursion, which includes photos from the western half of the Lewis and Clark trail, the Pacific Northwest, west Texas and several National Parks, is entitled "See America First." Several of these photos will also be included in this showing.
Reed continued, "These photographs are my love letters, my conveyance of appreciation and admiration of our creator's works. My honest hope is for the viewer to come away with a greater admiration for and closeness to the true artist, God".
Opening reception is Saturday, July 2nd from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. with the show continuing Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4.
Stop by the Carnegie, meet the artist and view an awesome show.
Hope to see you there.
