The Folly of Not Trusting GodPosted Friday, January 6, 2012, at 2:58 PM
"What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help,
trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers
and depending on the strength of human armies
instead of looking to the Lord,
the Holy One of Israel."
(Isaiah 31:1, NLT)
Long are the days where we can rely on our government or judicial system for assistance in facilitating our lives. If we as Americans desire to continually be a blessed Nation, it is imperative that we look to the God that this country was founded on.
No longer can we rely on the White House, our military weapons, or the strength of human armies to uphold the standard of being a powerful country. In order for America to be successful in the perilous days to come, we must look upon the one and only Holy God.
It is our responsibility as Christians to bear the burdens of America and seek the face of God. In this, we will see the Lord's commitment to defend our country against our enemies. The Lord's commitment may be pictured in the imagery of a motherbird protecting her young. Underneath His wings we will find refuge.
If we do not seek the face of God, surely, the "Land of the Free" will once again be held captive. Not only will war exist between the United States and other countries but surely, war will exist between the people and the government of this nation. Therefore, let us look to our Sovereign God for He is where our help comes from.
The prosperity of America begins with the American people having a repentive heart that is encouraged on the basis of God's love and grace, not on the basis of fear and punishment. God's promises of deliverance will be fulfilled as we acknowledge that He alone delivers us daily.
May we turn our hearts back to God that His love may abound all the greater.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)
