Don't let others discourage you from your destinyPosted Friday, June 8, 2012, at 11:55 AM
"With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
(2 Thessalonians 1:10-12, NIV)
Does God really have a divine purpose and destiny for each one of our lives? Or is it just for an elect few?
God has a divine destiny for every believer's life. If you don't know what that is yet, I encourage you to begin to pray for God to awaken His calling within you. Every Christian has gifts (1 Peter 4:10-11). Knowing what your gifts are will better equip you to fulfill your calling. We will always have a sense of yearning until we know what our purpose on this earth is. Each one of us are called to leave a legacy and pave a pathway for those that are willing to follow Jesus.
As scripture points out, this calling is so that God's power may be displayed through you (Exodus 9:16). It is so that His name, reputation, and character will be declared throughout all the earth. We get the honor and the privilege of being God's instruments and we get to enjoy the journey. It's unfathomable to me, how the Creator of all the Heavens and all the Earth would entrust us with such a great mission. Truly He sees His sons and daughters worthy of the call.
Don't let others discourage you from your destiny. Keep the dream that God has placed in your heart alive, no matter how big or small the mission may seem. Knowingly or unknowingly, sometimes it is the people closest to you that will try to dissuade you from the desires God put in your heart. It's simply because they have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in your life. They think, "We know what you've done and where you have come from. How could God use you?" However, God is in the business of using ordinary people to do extraordinary things. In this manner, God will get all the glory so that "no man shall boast."
"I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason, too."
