Psalm 112:6-10, ESV
"For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever. He is not afraid of bad news;
his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever;
his horn is exalted in Honor. The wicked man sees it and is angry;
he gnashes his teeth and melts away;
the desire of the wicked will perish!"
The wicked often seek to fulfill their appetites with accusations, intimidation, bullying, betrayal, and victimizing others. Their actions defy the living God and they take no account of Him or His Word.
Envy, slander, gossip, and all manner of evil can be overwhelming to God's people. However, Believers whose hearts are steadfast in The Lord can not be easily shaken. We know we can trust and rely on The Lord. A man in right standing with The Lord can have a settled spirit. We need not to fear or be intimidated when evil appears to have its way and prosper. It takes great effort to keep our minds upon The Lord when our world seems to be collapsing. However, when we keep our eyes on Jesus, we will remain calm and undisturbed. Furthermore, we can take confidence in knowing that Godliness will lead to a life of blessedness whereas wickedness will lead to a life of destruction.
So what is this blessed life? It is a life where in the darkest hours of affliction and trial, the light of hope and peace springs up within us. It is a life where seasonable mourning turns into eternal joy and dancing. It is a life where we have the privilege of learning from Christ's example. It is a life where it is effortless to do good. It is a life where He turns a once stoney heart into a heart of compassion that uses discretion while dealing with others.
Trusting in the Lord is the best and surest way of establishing our heart. It is this type of joy and confidence that is the envy of the wicked. But rest assured that the desire of the wicked and their seemingly ways of prospering will perish.
God did not intend for us to have a frantic, stressed out life. He wants us to make the most of our time while here on earth but He wants us to be overcomers, not overwhelmers. Even those whom we think are never shaken question why certain things happen in their life. To be steady or steadfast means to be firm and secure, knowing that as Believers, we are firmly seated in Heavenly places and have a strong support, a firm foundation, and strength that comes from Christ alone.
So today I encourage you to not be shaken. Do not fret. Keep your heart firm and steady knowing that you can trust in The Lord. Be confident and rejoice in knowing that God promises in due time, the righteous will obtain more honor than the wicked.
