Cherish the ones you love
Valentine's Day seems to be one of those take it or leave it holidays for people. Some go all out with presents, dinner and showering their loved ones in all things pink and heart like, while others let the day pass just like any other.
For myself, I'm somewhere in the middle. I like the idea of taking a day and making it all about love. I guess that's the hopeless romantic in me. But then again, I think that love should be celebrated every day and not just on one particular day.
I am beyond blessed to have so many people in my life to celebrate love with.
Over the last few years, my parents have sent me flowers for the occasion along with other goodies, just to make sure I wasn't missing out. My mom is the best at little things like that. I'll walk into the house to flowers, my favorite chocolates and a card she signed for my daddy and her.
My brother, well he's never really been one for showing affection, but that doesn't go without saying he is always there when I need him. He reminds me constantly he's only a phone call or Facetime away from being in the same place I am.
Then there is my fiancé. This year is our second Valentine's Day together and we celebrate a year of loving each other, driving each other nuts and living life with each other on Feb. 16. I've never been more blessed to have someone beside me through life.
I have amazing future in-laws, wonderful nieces, generous sisters and brothers-in-law and so many other friends and family members to be thankful for.
All that said, whether you can take or leave this holiday "created by Hallmark," take a minute to say I love you to those special people in your life.
Remember you don't have to have fancy gifts, chocolates, roses, or even a day to love those who are important in your life.
