Simple thanks to an awesome God
"Now to Him to is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen" Ephesians 3:20
How does one thank a God who can do that? He really asks so little of us and makes pleasing Him simple. He wants our love and the mindset to believe Him. We do this through our faith that He is. That He is I AM.
Recently, our family was faced with a difficult situation that came out of the blue. Totally unexpected. The thing the Lord urged us to do was have faith in Him and trust that He is all that He says He is.
Many times I have studied faith, because the Scriptures tell us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Don't you wish sometimes those things that are so important to our walk with the Lord that He would just straight out tell us? But faith is what He requires. To know that we know and that is it.
I pulled out all I had ever learned about faith, but there was something I was missing. The power of faith, the authority of faith, the unshakable knowledge that comes through faith. During the waking hours of morning, the Lord began to speak to me of faith. For me, it settled the mystery.
Most of us have read many times Hebrews 11:1 and probably quote it often as I do. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen." However, this time, the great Teacher, the Holy Spirit, began to teach me about this powerful little word. He IS the Word. He speaks truth and cannot lie. God is the great I AM.
The Holy Spirit revealed of God, "I AM the substance of everything you hoped for. I AM the evidence of those things not seen yet. I AM the reason you can call those things which are not as though they were already." Such peace and assurance came with these words. Whatever we face God can handle it.
Now, how do we thank a God who is everything? Who is the great I Am? Who never leaves or forsake us and has already defeated all of our foes? That too He made simple, just thank Him and praise Him for who He is.
Thank You Lord for Your care and love for us. That those things that mean so much to us, we can ask of You, and You are able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ask or even think.
