Ain't nothing like the real thing...
Remember those days when sugar was sugar and a Coke was perfect, nothing added or taken away? When in the center of the Sunday dinner table there would be a huge plate of fried chicken with skin on and flavored by its own tasty fat. The potatoes whipped just right with the "red-capped" milk and a nice slab of real butter slowly dripping from their peaks. And, not one but, several other side dishes making the family meal a smorgasbord.
Now, it is deemed "not healthy" to eat these delights in this way. The salt shaker is a thing of the past. Instead of chewing our food we are supposed to drink it, and it has to be green. Ingredients have been refined and substitutes have taken over our shelves. We end up with a lesser product trying to pass for the real thing. However, these areas are constantly changing, leaving confusion.
There is one thing that can always be trusted to be as it says and that is the Word of God. Though some have tried to refine it and pound it like wheat and argue its meaning, it remains unchanged. God is always the same, yesterday, today and forever.
God is the real thing, the living, eternal King. He will not crumble at the weight of a problem, nor sleep through your call. While you are calling, He already has the answer. He will never leave you alone, or tell you to figure it out yourself. God's promises are yeah and amen!
The only way to know the real ingredients of the Word is to read it for yourself. Psalm 34:8 says, "Oh taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him." He is the bread of life and water to a thirsty soul.
Take time to spend with the Lord. He is pure and true . . . the real thing!
