Falling in love with the game
Posted Monday, October 31, 2016, at 10:09 AMAll it takes to fall in love with the Linton Miner Football program is to attend one game. Just sit in the stands; feel the energy. I’ve been telling my family and friends all season long: just go to one game. These boys play their hearts out every week, and it spills out through the crowd. The fans feed off the players and you can’t help but get caught up in it all. From belting out the fight song to ringing my cowbell, it’s just an awesome feeling... -
Football program is about more than sports
Posted Monday, October 17, 2016, at 8:50 AMI grew up an Army brat in a small community near Fort Bragg, NC. Almost everyone around us had some sort of ties to the Army. Most of our parents were transplants from other states. So that meant most of our grandparents and family members were from out of state also. ... -
Football is fun for the whole family
Posted Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 2:14 PM1One of the best things about watching Linton Miner football is watching it with my dad. I’ve always been a daddy’s girl. Don Woods was Mr. Baseball at Shakamak back in his high school days. I grew up watching him play softball in an Army League. I was raised on baseball and fishing. Mom can’t protect them on the football field
Posted Friday, September 30, 2016, at 5:34 PMNow that we’ve been through a few games I’m started to feel a bit more comfortable with football. But I still have that little pit in my stomach that tightens every time I see those boys make a play. I don’t think I breathe until the play is made and I can spot the man child get up safely. I’m pretty sure every parent feels the same way... -

New position, first touchdown
Posted Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 3:04 PMThere is so much to learn about football! I thought I was doing really good. I understood the main objective of whatever positions Avery played. I'll never forget when he so excitedly asked me if I saw him sack the quarterback. I had to text a fellow football enthusiast to ask what that meant. As the year progressed I knew what a sack was and I could actually spot it on the field without someone having to explain... -
It takes an army to feed an army
Posted Friday, August 19, 2016, at 10:43 AM1I am the mother of a Freshman football player and guess what: I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL! Football started late in our house because my kids were not playing. I put my foot down, it wasn't happening. All it took was for Mammy Kuhn to overhear the boys wanting to play and mom saying no. Mammy signed them up the next day. I was worried sick, someone might hurt my babies. Then I attended practice...the Puckett boy fights are way worse and without pads!...
