My cup runneth over with Miner Pride
I have attended football games, watched online and listened to the games on the radio.
But nothing compares to sitting right smack dab in the middle of the stands with the fans
roaring around you. The noise makers, the cowbells, and the cheers coming from the cheerleaders.
It's an intense feeling.
Want to know what's even more intense?
Seeing your own child run through that big inflatable helmet onto the field.
There was no way I could tell which kid was mine, but somewhere in that sea of red was my boy. My precious baby boy, my 5 pound 1 oz. preemie, was out there. That sweet little brown eyed boy was running along side his brothers for the first time on their home field. With that feeling in my gut and tears filling my eyes, I wanted to run with them! I was fired up!
I did my best to keep up with the game while I worked the concession stand. I was set up in the concession stand across the field on the visitors side.
I got to catch a couple of great plays. But the most awesome sound in the world would stop me and I would have to watch. The thunderous sound of the Linton Miner family roaring through the stands.
I may or may not have had to stop myself from running on the field and jumping up and down like a crazed fan.
You can't help yourself. This crazy intense feeling comes over you and you just can't stop. Oh man, don't let me embarrass myself or my children. With each play the intensity rises. Can I hold it together and pay attention to the job that I'm supposed to be doing? These people just want popcorn, they don't want me screaming in their faces.
One mom from the other team booed me as she was standing in my line….we chuckled, this is all in great fun.
The game was intense right down to the last few seconds. I could hear the thunder roaring from the Linton Miner fans. It's like being on a roller coaster, do I cover my eyes? I'm going for it, eyes wide open. TOUCHDOWN!!!! Is this real life? Did we just score a touchdown with seconds left? This is really happening, I swear it was like watching a show on tv. And just like that the Miners win!!
The game was over and spirits were high. I follow the crowd to the field. The coaches took their turns with words of wisdom and encouragement. We then went to the goal post for prayer. It gets me every time, not only the players and the coaches, but a small community gathered together to pray for these young men.
My cup runneth over with Miner Pride!
