The dorm spookening, part two
As promised, here is the second part to my possibly-haunted dorm experience. I know, I know. You’ve just been crossing the days off the calendar until this came out. Well, wait no more because here it is.
I should start by telling you after the first incident, we did as goofy people do and we offered a name to the ghost: Earl. Don’t ask why we chose that one, it just felt right at the time. We told it that if it didn’t like the name to knock it off the door. It never fell down
Now, picture it: the same study room as the last time, but this time I was alone. Or so I thought.
I sat at a large table on the opposite side of the room with all the overhead lights on this time, working diligently on a poster for a class or a club or something. I traced, outlined, colored, the whole nine yards. I knew I wasn’t moving a whole lot hunched over the table, so I waved my arms in the air every once in awhile to keep the lights on.
You may guess where this is going. The lights turned off. I didn’t think much of it. So, I got up, kind of waved my arms around to trip the motion sensor. Didn’t work this time. It was nearing midnight, I think. Not incredibly late for a college student but late enough.
But, the lights never came back on, much to my annoyance.
So, I decided to strike a deal with good ole Earl the ghost. I told him if he would just let me finish the part I was working on, I’d pack up and go to bed.
The lights above me turned on. Only the lights above me.
We’d have a thing or two disappear from our dorm room only for it to mysteriously reappear later, and sometimes the lights in the study room would turn on when we walked by. No one would be in there, but we knew it was just Earl saying “hi”.
Believe it if you want, or just chalk it up to creative imaginations. Either way is fine with me. But you can’t tell me it’s not just a little spooky.
