Hello everybody!
My name is Savannah Boone, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to write for the Greene County Daily World. I am a graduate of the Vincennes University journalism program. During my time in the journalism program, I wrote for the student newspaper on campus, titled ‘The Trailblazer’. I started out as a staff writer for The Trailblazer and was promoted to editor during my senior year in the program. I believe that my time writing for the student newspaper really helped me to develop both my writing and communication skills.
My love for writing started when I was really young and stemmed from my love for reading. I was, and still am, a book nerd and I always wanted to write a book as great as the novels I was reading at the time. My journey through the journalism program at VU allowed me to develop the passion of not only writing, but being able to tell other people’s stories on a public platform and getting their story in the public eye. Additionally, it is a person’s story and their trust in me to tell me that story that really impacts me as a writer. I love the relationships that I get to build with my sources along with the dedication it takes to really express the important factors of that story. Being a Linton Miner alumni, I look forward to getting to write for the Greene County Daily World and building that relationship with those in the county itself.
Savannah Boone is a staff writer for the GCDW. She loves spending time with her family and friends, reading and watching movies, specifically the Harry Potter series. If you would like to share your story or if you need a friend to talk to, Savannah can be reached at sjboone18@gmail.com.
