North-South All-Star game will be played July 13
Just a reminder.
The Indiana Football Coaches Association will sponsor the 52nd annual North-South All-Star game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
The game will be the final high school game for Caleb Hamilton of Eastern-Greene as he will play for the South team. Joey Paridaen, who has coached Eastern for the last four years before leaving for Evansville North, will be one of the South’s assistant coaches.
Hamilton started 14 games at quarterback for the Thunderbirds, but he is listed as a tight end.
Other area players on the South team are: Nathan Barrett, Terre Haute North, wide receiver; Dakota Caton, Sullivan, defensive back; Cade Winslow, defensive tackle, Greencastle; and Chris Bomba, Bloomington South, punter.
Andy Owen of Evansville Central will coach the South team.
Paridaen and Owen’s teams will face each other before the end of the 2018 season. North will travel to Central at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 for the final regular game of the season.
The Eastern football season will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, with a home game against Springs Valley.
COA Volleyball
COA Volleyball will sponsor several volleyball camps this summer.
The Terre Haute sports club will sponsor a middle school camp for girls in fifth- through eighth-grade from Monday, July 30, through Thursday, Aug. 2, at Terre Haute South. The camps will run from 6-9 pm each day and will cost $65. Brian Payne, a former coach at South, will serve as camp director.
An elementary camp for girls in second- through fifth-grades will be offered from Monday, July 23, through Thursday, July 26, at South. The camp will run from 4-6 pm each day and will cost $50. Payne will also serve as director for this camp.
COA is also offering a clinic for girls ages 7-14. Each session costs $5, but there is no sign-up; participants just show up and pay.
The clinics will be offered on June 25 and 27 and July 9, 11, 16, and 18 at Honey Creek Middle School. General skills clinics will be offered from 3-4 pm each day, and advanced skills clinics will be offered from 4-5:30 pm.
