Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce's Meet and Greet a great idea
The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to a successful 2008, and it needs your help to make sure that happens.
The Board of Directors has scheduled a Meet and Greet event for Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Bloomfield Community Building (near the swimming pool).
The board came up with the idea at its last meeting.
"It was something that was decided by the board that we wanted to pretty much get out there and try to make a difference," Chamber President Cynthia Ferguson said.
The Meet and Greet will take the place of the Chamber's regular monthly meeting, scheduled for Feb. 7 at noon.
Ferguson said the purpose of the event is to allow current, former, and new members to meet the new board, and share ideas and suggestions for 2008.
The Chamber wants its members to have a voice in what it does.
Ferguson added that the board will share its ideas and visions with members that night, but an exact time for when that will start hasn't been announced.
"It's a casual night," Ferguson said. "There will be a suggestion box out for people to share their ideas. ... All the board members will be there."
The Board of Directors should be commended for hosting this Meet and Greet event. It shows commitment to the Bloomfield community.
The other Chamber officers are Judy Hammond, vice president; Carla Howell, treasurer; and Jenny Crites, secretary.
Ferguson asks that you RSVP if you plan to attend the Meet and Greet. You can call Randall Brown's office at 384-9286 to RSVP.
I hope the Bloomfield community rallies around the new Chamber Board of Directors. It's obvious many people have Bloomfield's best interests in mind, and they want your help to make Bloomfield better.
