Stimulus Checks Are Coming Soon!

Posted Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 5:25 PM

Back a couple months ago, I wrote about stimulus checks coming in the mail soon. http://gcdailyworld.com/blogs/chriswathe... Well, for some they have already arrived, while for the vast majority of us, we will have to wait a little… perhaps even more if you received your refund via paper check and not direct deposit.

If you received your refund via direct deposit, you'll receive your refund based on the last two digits of your social security number as follows:

Last two digits = Payment will be delivered no later than

00 through 20 = May 2

21 through 75 = May 9

76 through 99 = May 16

If you chose the paper check method on your 2007 Federal income tax return, your stimulus check will be mailed as follows, based on the last two digits of your social security number:

00 through 09 = May 16

10 through 18 = May 23

19 through 25 = May 30

26 through 38 = June 6

39 through 51 = June 13

52 though 63 = June 20

64 through 75 = June 27

76 through 87 = July 4

88 through 99 = July 11

Many are saying they will save the money or pay down debt with it, while others plan to spend it immediately. What are you planning?

Haven't received it yet, but should have?

Perhaps you didn't qualify. (Some of this is discussed in the blog post found here http://gcdailyworld.com/blogs/chriswathe... )

Still don't know why you haven't received it? Contact the IRS, not me.

It depends on who you ask...

I say we're buying some new flooring with our stimulus... My husband may have grander plans. Either way we are doing our parts to stimulate the economy. :)

I am paying for the increase in prices with the extra money the government is "giving me". Wake up everyone - It's your money. Between the increase in sales tax and food/energy prices, the federal government should have sent my check directly to the oil companies, Wal-Mart, and Mitch Daniels.

President Bush finally found a way to give the oil companies a bigger tax break...By charging us more for oil products, the oil companies will get our money either way....By the way, gas was $1.46 when "W" took office. Try as you might, you can't spin that away....

Great comment Buck. I was thinking the same thing. Great time to raise gas prices right when everyone gets their "stimulus" checks. The only thing it is going to stimulate is the bankroll of big oil.

Why do people always think there's some big conspiracy going on with gas/oil prices? Anyone who's taken even basic high school economics should know that this is how supply and demand works.

I plan on buying lots of Chinese made goods from American stores who hire American employees, and going on a vacation.

What a joke! I got a letter from the tax board say now I can get my rebate between now and 6 weeks from now. So much for government rebate incentives
