BBQ, Chili, & LMFPosted Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at 7:51 AM
Not to trample into Matt's food blog territory, but over the weekend, I had the opportunity to sample some of the Rotary's pulled-pork barbeque, and I just have to tell you all: it was fantastic! Bob Waters and his Rotary Club comrades have done an amazing job with this. (Some hot sauce that they had on hand is the only thing that takes it closer to perfection.)
You'll have the chance to purchase these BBQ sandwiches at the Linton Music Festival this coming Labor Day weekend -- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday have full line-ups of artists and bands. Bob says they'll be preparing a whopping 400-some pounds of the barbeque alone, so there should be plenty available. (I'm told Angell's will have several more pounds of pork ready to cook, if they should need it.) I did not get a chance to sample the Rotary's three-time award-winning chili, but I have no doubt it will once again be very good. They will make it available at the LMF as well. So, your ears won't be the only thing happy this Music Fest weekend, but your taste buds will be singing for joy too! They should. Jared would get some good business there. He is a major part of the organization of the whole fest, and I figured he would have a stand there. Thats too bad.
ps
Who won the hot dog eating contest earlier this year? I never saw results in the paper.
Proud to live in Linton - Good point. I'm told 5 private, local vendors will be on hand serving up some great food as well.
SmithA13 - The Double Dog will NOT have a stand I hear. I've never tried the Italian Beef, but their chicken salad and the Reuben sandwiches are great!
Will Double Dog have a stand? Just curious. Also, did anybody ever try the Italian Beef sandwich there? I was going to, but they stopped serving it before I got the chance. Just curious.
Pulled pork is NOT the only great foods available at he LMF.... please patronize the other locally owned food concessions while you are there!
Thanks!
I will have to give their pulled pork a try. I think I will have to pass on the chili though. I am still a little bitter from losing three straight years. :)
Sounds delicious.....can't wait to hear the bands they all sound great. Looking forward to Hightide Blues on Sunday!!
