Put Another Blog on the Fire (Rustle up some bacon and some beans)

Recently, my Mom sent me an email that asked "What is a blog?" That was a great question, but I'm not sure that there is a truly definitive answer. The term blog came from the partial fusion of these two words; web and log, hence "blog". The thought was that people were creating a log of responses (to a variety of issues) on the web. The definition of what a blog should be, is really dependent on how it is used. I believe that early on, there were a lot of people like me who enjoyed blogging as a means to relax and communicate with the outside world. It was nothing more than a hobby for us electronic hermits. As with everything else, people soon began to look at ways to make money from blogging, consequently, now there are quite a few successful bloggers who make a pretty good income by just distributing facts and opinions and having people respond to their web sites. I have spent some time recently, just reading a few of them and several of these folks are really good. I tended to shy away from the technical computer programming blogs because, quite frankly, I didn't understand what they were trying to tell me. It makes me wonder where in the world all of these smart people came from out there.

Just about any subject that you would ever want to know about is right there on the web and many that you wouldn't want to know about at all. If you are a sports enthusiast, you can find blogs on football, basketball, baseball, hockey and I also found one on curling. Now there's a sport that I wish had taken up at a young age, instead of curling up on the couch in my 50's.

You can find so many intelligent blogs on politics that you'd probably change your political affiliation 5 times before you had to take a bathroom break. Seriously, I never really knew what a Libertarian was before I read this one blog and before I surfed on out, I was thinking that maybe I was one. There are some pretty heated debates concerning politics and they tend to make a whole lot of the bloggers so irate that they are almost incomprehensible.

If you want to get into the seriously fanatical, knock down, drag 'em out blogs however, you should find one of the religious blogs. It has never ceased to amaze me how people can be so unfriendly with each other when they disagree about religion. There are people out there who are so passionate about their religious feelings that they become downright hateful when their views conflict with others. I guess that's why we have had so many wars fought over religion.

I have never been good with money, whether it be earning it, saving it or investing it, seriously, about all I can do is spend it. I can't even imagine anyone paying me for my opinions, "Hey Simmons, A penny for your thoughts?" No thanks, mine are free.
