Vote! It is very important

Election Day is finally here, and tomorrow morning will be the end of political ads, yard signs, annoying phone calls as well as those ugly, negative TV and radio commercials.

It's time to wash the mud off and get down to business for the politicians. The winners now need to focus on the business of running our national, state and local governments in a responsible manner.

Tomorrow, the pressure will be on the newly elected officials to live up to our expectations--and keep their campaign promises. Somehow, too many of them seem to forget that part of the electoral process.

This nation, state and county needs leaders who will lead, and not make excuses for what they have inherited.

We all need leaders who are able to leave politics at the door step and think about the needs of the people -- the constituents who elected them.

This country, state and county needs God-fearing men and women in public office who will view the issues with Christian eyes and spirits and not be afraid to do the right thing and cast the 'tough' vote.

We as citizen deserve to have elected officials who realize they work for the people who cast the votes.

We as citizens of this nation, state and county should demand accountability and when it is not given, we can, and they can expect change.

For too long, politics have reigned in our legislative halls and executive branches and it's time the people's voice is heard. In this nation, state and county the way we make our voice known is through the ballot box.

Please vote Tuesday, if you have not already done so. Your vote-- every vote-- is important.

Voting is very important, and it needs to be brought up to modern standards in this country.

Frum says, "The kind of battle we are seeing in Florida -- where Democrats and Republicans will go to court over whether early voting should span 14 days or eight -- simply does not happen in Germany, Canada, Britain or France. The ballot uncertainty that convulsed the nation after Florida's vote in 2000 could not happen in Mexico or Brazil.

Almost everywhere else, elections are run by impartial voting agencies. In France, elections are the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior, which establishes places and hours of voting, prints ballots (France still uses paper) and counts the votes. In Germany, an independent federal returning officer oversees a complex state and federal voting system. In Canada, federal elections are managed by a specialized agency, Elections Canada. Mexico, emerging from a sad history of electoral manipulation, created in the 1990s a respected independent agency, the Federal Electoral Institute. Brazil has nationwide electronic voting, producing instantaneous, uncontested results."

As far as the requirement of being a Christian (thus excluding Jewish candidates, along with a number of others) , Article 6 of our Constitution states:

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

When I got to to work this AM , I was told the social media humor is " the President will be ahead today in the polls, because the Republicans won't get to vote until they get off work " .
