Dugger Coal Festival

The Dugger Coal Festival got under way Thursday night. activities continue through Sunday.

The schedule:

Friday

* 4 p.m. -- Dugger Cass Township Volunteer Fire Department Jonah Fish Fry in the community building.

* 5 p.m. -- Carnival and vendors open.

* 6 p.m. -- Redneck Queen Contest, main stage.

* 7 p.m. -- Whosoever Will, main stage.

* 7:30 p.m. -- 800 North Band, main stage.

* 8:15 p.m. -- Firefly parade.

Saturday

* 6 to 10 a.m. -- Breakfast at the Masonic Lodge.

* 9 a.m. -- Carnival and vendors open.

* 10 a.m. -- Parade, themed "Happy Fall, Y'all."

* 11:30 a.m. -- American Legion free bean dinner at the American Legion Post Post 244, 8155 E. Main St. and again in the park during the evening.

* Noon -- Jackson Township Community Band on main stage.

* 1 p.m. -- Party On Productions DJ, Karaoke and kids games and activities.

* 1:30 p.m. -- Union High School homecoming.

* 2 p.m. -- Union High School homecoming game against Eastern Greene.

* 4 p.m. -- American Legion pedal tractor pull behind community building.

* 4:30 p.m. -- Wikker Elefant, main stage.

* 5 p.m. -- American Legion Big Wheel races, behind community building.

* 6 p.m. -- Magician James Kessler, kids stage behind community building.

* 6 p.m. -- Wacky the Clown

* 6 p.m. -- Union High School alumni banquet, at high school.

* 7 p.m. -- Alligator Aaron, kids stage behind community building.

* 8 p.m. -- KIST, a Tribute to Kiss, "Bringing the Rock 'n' Roll Circus to Town," main stage.

* 10 p.m. -- DJ Weezered at Hall's Uptown Tavern.

Sunday, Oct. 2

* 11 a.m. -- Carnival and vendors open.

* 11:30 a.m. -- Pork and turkey Manhattans and/or salad bar at the community building.

* Noon -- Sullivan County garden tractor pulls on the north side of the community building.

* 1 p.m. -- Matt Hicks, main stage.

* 3 p.m. -- Coalfest Singoff 2011, featuring karaoke by Party On Productions Bert Russell.

* 6 p.m. -- Festival closes.
