CRANE ---- I enjoy going to NSWC Crane on assignments and am always impressed at how precise and organized the public affairs staff is as they usher media in and out of the compound, and while there, how hospitable they are in serving our needs. However, after constantly hearing about the "orange" (level) alert on television and radio throughout Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning, I can't say I was overjoyed or looking forward to being at such a high alert area at 8 a.m. ...

Jack Bledsoe of Linton recorded a hole-in-one at the Phil Harris Golf Course Wednesday. Bledsoe used a 9-iron on No. 1 from 120 yards away. The ace was witnessed by Howard Herndon.

The Linton-Stockton freshmen volleyball team remained unbeaten with two victories at home Wednesday night. The Lady Miners (3-0) beat Terre Haute North 21-4, 21-6 and then disposed of Terre Haute South 21-6, 21-11. Linton was 33 of 34 serving, good for 98 percent against North.
