Newberry man picked up on arson charge

A warrant issued in Greene Superior Court has been served on Dale Leon Townsend, 21, of Newberry, for arson, a Class B felony. Townsend is charged with setting fire to a large wooden barn on County Road 745 near Scotland on Oct. 25. Greene County Sheriff's Deputy George Dallaire discovered the fire around 11 p.m. and noticed one set of tire tracks going in and out of the lane to the barn.
