The Greene County Redevelopment Commission is expected to take formal action in mid-January that will establish an area near the junction of State Road 54/U.S. 231 and State Road 57 as a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) economic development area. Man accidentally shoots himself

A rural Bloomfield man was fatally wounded Monday morning when a loaded shotgun discharged as he was putting it in its carrying case. The victim was identified as 66-year-old Ron Coker, according to Greene County deputy coroner Brian Gainey. The incident happened in Coker's garage as he was putting a 12-gauge shotgun into a carrying case and it accidentally discharged -- causing a "deer slug" to strike him at close range in the chest about 10:45 a.m., Gainey said...
