Greene County has a new county commissioner. Saturday morning Democrat Precinct Committeemen gathered in caucus at Humphreys Park in Linton and selected Bill Sipes, of rural Bloomfield, as District 2 Commissioner. Sipes, who is not a candidate in the upcoming May 6 Primary Election, will fill out the term of former commissioner -- the late Larry Hasler.

A 49-year-old rural Bloomfield man was arrested Friday night and jailed on eight felony and misdemeanor charges after he allegedly earlier left the scene of a property damage traffic accident a short distance from the Greene County Jail. Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Chris McDonald, with assistance from county reserve deputies and the Lyons Police Department, apprehended Ricky R.
