STATE ROAD 54 OPEN IN AND OUT OF BLOOMFIELD; WHITE RIVER IS FALLING

State Road 54 into and out of Bloomfield is now open. Flood waters have subsided enough to allow the roadway that was closed Sunday night to re-open about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to a dispatcher at the Greene County Sheriff's Department. As this posting no other roads closed -- either state or county -- have been re-opened.

Governor Mitch Daniels stopped in Worthington Tuesday morning to take a look at the town's flood-damaged areas. He was on a tour of the areas in Southern Indiana that have been hardest hit by the recent flooding. Worthington Town Council President Hal Harp drove Daniels along Wabash Avenue past flooded fields and the water rushing over Terre Haute Road. Harp said he then drove Daniels through the Third Street neighborhood on the north side of town where several flooded homes are located.
